Stronger cooperation, Libyan issue at centre of FM's talk with German ambassador

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi met Wednesday with German Ambassador Peter Prügel.

The minister said there is need to develop new modes of cooperation and boost triangular cooperation with Germany and African countries.

He added that relations saw a considerable impetus over the last ten years and hailed Germany for the continuous support lent to democratic transition in the country.

Consultations need to continue to bolster relations of friendship and cooperation in different fields, he further said.

Jerandi also called for scaling up scientific and academic cooperation and speeding up the implementation of the Tunisian-German university project which, he said, will open up fresh horizons for Tunisian students.

In another vein, the minister laid emphasis on the importance of coordinating with Germany and other countries to help the new interim government in Libya deliver on the commitments agreed as part of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum in Tunis.

The German diplomat said his country wants to further relations of friendship and cooperation and strengthen ties between Tunisia and Europe.
