Foreign Minister holds working session with Kuwaiti Deputy PM and Minister of Foreign Affairs
The meeting discussed ways to strengthen the bilateral relations of fraternity and looked at new prospects for partnership between the two countries.
The two sides insisted on the importance of preserving the periodicity of the bilateral meetings and monitoring their results, in particular the Tunisian-Kuwaiti Joint Commission meeting scheduled for 2019 in Tunis.
They also reviewed the preparations for the 30th Arab Summit, scheduled for late March in Tunis, expressing the hope that the summit will be an opportunity to bolster joint Arab action.
The two ministers reiterated the importance of bilateral co-ordination and consultation on items on the agenda of the upcoming Arab summit and on regional and international issues of common interest, particularly in view of Tunisia’s bid for a non-permanent seat in the Security Council.
Mr Jhinaoui also highlighted the importance of strengthening bilateral co-operation in order to meet the common challenges facing Tunisia and Kuwait, including terrorism and extremism and to address their negative regional and international spillover effects.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs visited Kuwait as the special envoy of the President of the Republic. He handed over on Sunday a written message from President Caid Essebsi to Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jabir al-Sabah, inviting him to participate in the 30th Arab Summit to be held in Tunis on March 31, 2019.
