Mr Jhinaoui meets with French ambassador in Tunis

Minister of Foreign Affairs Khemaies Jhinaoui met Monday with ambassador of France in Tunis Olivier Poivre d'Arvor.

The meeting focused on the preparation of bilateral and multilateral milestones, including the forthcoming visit of Prime Minister Youssef Chahed to France that will see the holding of the meeting of the Tunisian-French High Co-operation Council.

The two sides also discussed the Summit of the International Organisation of La Francophonie to be held in Tunis in 2020, as well as the "Sommet des deux Rives" to be held in Marseille in June 2019, in the presence of civil society representatives from 5 + 5 countries.

The meeting focused among others on ways to consolidate the relations of co-operation and strategic partnership between Tunisia and France.

It also helped follow up the results of the visit made by French President Emmanuel Macron to Tunisia on January 31 and February 1, 2018.

MrJhinaoui highlighted Tunisia’s commitment to further strengthen the relations between the two countries both bilaterally and within the framework of partnership with the European Union "especially as France remains Tunisia’s top economic partner in the European zone."

The French diplomat reiterated his country’s commitment to supporting the efforts made by Tunisia to ensure the success of upcoming events and meetings and accompany it in meeting economic challenges.

Mr Olivier Poivre d'Arvor also emphasised France's concern to boost bilateral co-operation and the activation of bilateral agreement in all areas.
