Visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs to Argentina: looking forward to further develop relations and support economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs praised the level of excellent political relations between the two friendly countries, stressing their willingness to increase their support, particularly in the economic field.

For his part, the Argentine Prime Minister highlighted the measures taken by Tunisia in the field of democratic transition and its important role as a stabilizing factor in the region, underlining his country's support for this successful experiment and its desire to strengthen cooperation with Tunisia in various fields.

In a meeting with his Argentinean counterpart, Jorge Furei, Khemaies Jhinaoui stressed the importance of intensifying the exchange of visits between senior officials of both countries.

The Foreign Minister underlined Tunisia's desire to broaden the base of economic partners and strengthen its relations with Latin American countries, including members of the MERCOSUR group, and invited Argentina, as President of this group, to support our country's efforts to conclude a free trade agreement with this area of ​​Economic Development.

After an extended working session attended by delegations from both countries, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and his Argentinian counterpart signed two cooperation agreements in the areas of promoting gender equality, promotion and human rights. women, technical cooperation and a memorandum of understanding in the social field and between the Center for Export Promotion and its Argentinian counterpart.

The two ministers stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of economy, trade, agriculture, scientific research, health and technical cooperation. as well as the need to enrich and improve the legal framework governing bilateral relations.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the most important regional and international issues of common interest and ways to strengthen multilateral cooperation between the two countries, taking into account the country's willingness to seek as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.

On the occasion of his visit to Argentina, Khemiei Foreign Minister Jhinaoui gave a lecture at the National Foreign Service Institute, one of the oldest diplomatic academies in the region, in the presence of several senior officials and executives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Religion, as well as several academics, researchers and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Argentina. The Tunisian democratic experience and the principles of Tunisian foreign policy.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, during a quivering procession and the national anthem of both countries, placed two wreaths in front of the monument to the editor of South America, General José de San Martín, in the honor of the great historical leader and the memorial of Buenos Aires in tribute to the victims of the military dictatorship. The minister also visited the headquarters of La Nacion, one of the oldest dailies in Argentina, and held a press conference on Tunisian-Argentine relations, the evolution of the political situation in Tunisia and the importance of next elections this year.
