Jhinaoui receives "prerequites" document of 18th Summity of La Francophonie

Foreign Affairs Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui received, Monday in Tunis, ambassador Vanessa Lamothe Matignon, Special Adviser to the Secretary-General of the International Organisation of la Francophonie (IOF)

and President of the steering committee of the 18th Summit of la Francophonie who handed him the "prerequisites" document of the summit that will be held in Tunisia in 2020.

The organisation of the summit will coincide with the celebration of the IOF 50th Anniversary.

At a meeting that was attended by Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Sabri Bachtobji and a delegation of the organisation, the minister spoke of the significant progress in preparation for this summit in terms of equipment and logistics.

Jhinaoui stressed the completion of the various sub-committees in charge of organising the summit.

The Foreign Affairs Minister stressed Tunisia’s commitment to defend the noble values and principles of the IOF and consolidate historic ties.

He expressed wish that the event would help boost the exchange of expertise between countries, IOF members and the unification of the Francophone family.

"Tunisia will work together with the IOF to define the summit content, particularly in the fields of youth and women protection, gender equality and modern communication technology,” he emphasised.

The minister informed the IOF delegation that the regional office of the organisation for North Africa in Tunisia is ready. It will help boost co-operation and communication between countries and people in the region, he said.

Matignon voiced satisfaction at the level of cooperation between Tunisia and the IOF, expressing the Organisation’s confidence in Tunisia’s capacity to make 18th Summit of la Francophonie to be successful.

She stressed the organisation’s readiness to make every effort to support bilateral cooperation so as to make this international event a success.
