Jhinaoui's activities on fringes of his participation in UN General Assembly

Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui attended the 74th session of the UN General Assembly held on September 23-30 in New York, under the theme: "Galvanising multilateral efforts for poverty eradication, quality education, climate action and inclusion."

According to a Foreign Ministry press release on Wednesday, Jhinaoui had on the fringes of his participation in this event a set of talks with several of his counterparts.

He discussed with Armenia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan the preparations undertaken by Tunisia ahead of the Francophonie Summit to be hosted by Tunisia by the end of October 2020. Armenia will hand over the presidency to Tunisia at the Ministerial Conference of la Francophonie (CMF) scheduled for October 30 in Monaco.

Jhinaoui’s meeting with Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Simon Coveney focused on exploring ways to foster bilateral relations and on regional and international issues of mutual interest, the ministry pointed out.

With his Polish counterpart Jacek Czaputowicz, the FM reviewed ways to further strengthen friendship and cooperation relations between Tunisia and Poland. Emphasis was laid on the importance of continuing political consultations between senior officials of the two countries on issues of mutual interest in the light of Tunisia's mandate as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2020-2021.

Besides, Khemaies Jhinaoui had a talk with Namibian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah about Tunisia's adherence to several regional and interregional trade conventions in Africa, which will help step up partnership platforms at the tripartite and multilateral level between the countries of North and South Africa including Namibia.
