Chairmanship of la Francophonie Summit transferred to Tunisia

At the end of the 36th Ministerial Conference of the Francophonie held on October 30 and 31 in Monaco, Armenia, host of the last Francophonie Summit, transferred, on Thursday evening, the chairmanship of the Summit to Tunisia, which will host the 18th Francophonie Summit.

According to a statement by the International Organisation of la Francophonie (OIF), the 18th Summit of the Francophonie will be held on December 12 and 13, 2020 in Tunis under the theme: "Connectivity in diversity: the digital vector of development and solidarity in the French-speaking world".

Sabri Bachtobji, Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, in charge of the management of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, delivered a speech on this occasion in which he expressed Tunisia's thanks for the confidence placed in it by the 88 Member States of the OIF in hosting the Summit's work. He reviewed the preparations undertaken in the context of the organisation of the Summit.

M. Sabri Bachtobji held talks with several heads of delegation on the sidelines of the work of the Ministerial Conference of La Francophonie, who commended the success of the latest elections in Tunisia, which "confirmed the maturity of the democratic process under way in the country".
