Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs meets UK government’s Envoy to Commonwealth

Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Bachtobji, on Monday, met UK government’s Envoy to the Commonwealth and Special Envoy for the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020 Philip Parham, who was accompanied by the UK Ambassador to Tunisia.

Parham invited Tunisia to participate in the UK-Africa Investment Summit 2020, to be held in London January 20, 2020.

The summit will bring together 21 African countries and representatives of international and regional organisations and the private sector.

It will help boost the economic partnership relations between the African countries and the United Kingdom in the public and private sectors, considering the importance of London as a business centre, as well as its focus on investment, trade, technology and renewable energy.

Bachtobji welcomed the invitation, stressing the importance of advancing African integration and developing African inter-countries trade by engaging in a number of regional groupings.

He recalled Tunisia’s access to the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and signing the African Continental Free Trade Agreement in March 2018.

Tunisia supports all forms of regional and international partnerships that aim to reinforce cooperation with African countries and promote investment and sustainable development in Africa.
