Bachtobji meets two senior Filipino officials

Secretary of State and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Sabri Bachtobji on Thursday and Friday held meetings with Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines Sarah Lou Arriola and Chief of Presidential Protocol and Presidential Assistant on Foreign Affairs Robert Borje.

Sarah Arriola discussed with Bachtobji ways to enhance the diplomatic presence of the Philippines in North Africa through establishing a permanent diplomatic representation of that country in Tunisia.

Bachtobji welcomed the initiative and expressed Tunisia's willingness to cooperate with the Filipino side and provide all the necessary resources for this purpose, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday.

For his part, Robert Borje gave Bachtobji a message from President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte to President Kais Said.

The two meetings were an opportunity to stress both countries’ commitment to strengthen the bilateral relations, particularly as part of the celebration of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Tunisia and the Philippines in 2020.

The meetings also looked at the preparations for the second session of the joint commission to be held in Tunis in 2020
