Minister of Foreign Affairs Noureddine Erray meets United Nations Resident Coordinator in Tunisia

Minister of Foreign Affairs Noureddine Erray, on Monday, met United Nations Resident Coordinator in Tunisia Lila Pieters

The minister affirmed Tunisia's willingness to strengthen cooperation with the various United Nations bodies.

He commended the role played by the UN Representation in Tunisia in supporting Sustainable Development Goals and the Tunisian government's efforts to fight COVID-19 and limit its repercussions.

Erray recalled the President of the Republic's initiative to join global efforts to stem the pandemic and the role that can be played by the United Nations, particularly the Security Council.

The meeting also discussed the preparations to develop the new strategic framework for cooperation between Tunisia and the United Nations during the 2021-2025 period.

Erray stressed the importance to focus on the objectives of the Tunisian government, particularly with regard to priority areas such as the fight against poverty, job creation, local development and sustainable economic development.
