Erray holds phone talk with his US counterpart

Foreign Minister Noureddine Erray, on Tuesday, held a phone conversation with his US counterpart Mike Pompeo focusing on bilateral relations and ways to foster them, as well as regional and international issues of common interest.

Erray expressed Tunisia's solidarity with the United States of America in its fight against COVID-19.

He commended the support of the US administration to the Tunisian-French resolution adopted by the Security Council, which calls for activating international solidarity in the fight against the health crisis and its repercussions.

The minister also hailed the US continued support provided to Tunisia to help it meet economic, social and financial challenges.

The US Secretary of State reaffirmed his country's continued support for Tunisia's "successful" democratic transition experience, stressing the commitment to continue strengthening the partnership with Tunisia in the political, economic and security fields.

The two sides exchanged views on regional and international issues, first and foremost the Palestinian cause and the situation in Libya.

Erray affirmed the need to support efforts to relaunch the political process in Libya in order to reach a Libyan-led political solution under the aegis of the United Nations and based on the resolutions of international legality.

The two Ministers agreed to continue consultations and coordination and to step up the exchange of visits between senior officials of both countries.
