Financing of MFA's activity discussed at Mr.Jerandi-Mr.Kooli meeting
The meeting took place on the sidelines of a meeting on the official start of bilateral consultations on funding programmes and priorities of the partnership with the European Union 2021-2027,
Othman Jerandi emphasised "the importance of the issue of international health insurance for diplomats and administrative officers abroad", especially in "regions where epidemics and other difficult diseases that require urgent medical care are spreading".
The two ministers also discussed the possibility of expanding the Tunisian diplomatic and consular presence in the world "by opting for new low-cost offices that allow greater representation of Tunisia in various regions", particularly in its geostrategic areas in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
These new representations will be able to bring new opportunities of investment, trade and international cooperation.
They also pointed out that the costs of missions abroad for diplomats and state officials "are insufficient", which "pushes state officials to refuse missions."
These costs must be revised to allow Tunisia to take part in meetings and important events, they pointed out.
The Minister of Economy, Finance and Investment Promotion said he understood the concerns of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and affirmed his willingness to study these proposals.
