Jerandi holds working session with his Mauritanian counterpart

A working session between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, and his Mauritanian counterpart Ismail Ould Sheikh Ahmed, took place at the headquarters of the Ministry Friday.

The working session focused on ways to develop mechanisms for economic cooperation, facilitate the movement of goods and boost investment in the Arab Maghreb region,

The two ministers agreed to begin preparations for the next session of the Tunisian-Mauritanian Joint Commission at ministerial level and intensify the exchange of high-level visits.

The meeting also focused on regional and international issues of common interest, including the Libyan issue. It brought about "a convergence of views on the need to continue to provide political support to the Libyan consensus process,

Jerandi welcomed the quality of relations of uniting the two countries, affirming Tunisia's willingness to develop them further in all areas.

He stressed the need to update the legal framework governing relations between Tunisia and Mauritania, to enable both countries to meet the social and economic challenges.

For his part, the Mauritanian Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed the role played by Tunisia since his country's independence, including training senior Mauritanian officials in Tunisian universities.

He highlighted the commitment of both countries' leaders to boost bilateral relations in all areas, pointing to the opportunities available to his country in the fields of energy, minerals and fisheries.
