Nigerian President accepts Caïd Essebsi's invitation to visit Tunisia
The invitation was extended to Nigerian President by Minister of Foreign Affairs, who paid a visit to Abuja on 12 and 13 March 2018 to attend the 5th session of the Tunisian-Nigerian Joint Commission.
According to a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the invitation of President Béji Caïd Essebsi was welcomed by President Muhammadu Buhari who stressed that "his visit to Tunisia will be prepared in consultation between the two countries."
While commending Tunisia's achievements in several areas, the Nigerian President noted the promising prospects for cooperation between the two countries, particularly in terms of exchange of experience and expertise in the fields of youth, agriculture and health.
For his part, Khemaïes Jhinaoui praised the dynamics experienced by Tunisian-Nigerian relations since the visit in June 2017 by the Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Tunisia.
He also underlined Tunisia's commitment to strengthen bilateral relations in the priority areas defined by the two countries, emphasising, in this regard, Tunisia’s will to promote consultations with Nigeria on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the fight against terrorism and extremism.
