Tunisia observes International Day of Girls
The event highlights what this means for girls who, due to the gender digital divide, are more likely than boys to miss out on these valuable learning opportunities.
On this occasion, Tunisia reaffirms its commitment to move forward on the path of promoting full gender equality, by supporting girls' learning and access to the ICT sector, in a world governed by digitization and modern and innovative means of communication.
Tunisia's heading of the Action Coalition on Technology and Innovation for Gender Equality within the global forum "Generation Equality", hosted by Mexico City and Paris in March and June, respectively, embodies its belief in the importance of the role of innovation and digital technology in promoting gender equality and reducing the digital divide between them.
As part of its leading role in this coalition, Tunisia has begun to develop a "concrete" plan of action for the period 2021-2026 that will promote job opportunities in the field of technology and innovation and accordingly facilitate the access of girls in rural areas to digital.
Tunisia believes that the COVID-19 pandemic had revealed shortcomings and gaps, which exacerbated the challenges faced by girls, despite the progress made in the field of children's rights and women's rights at the international level.
