MFA meets with Ethiopian counterpart on sidelines of FOCAC

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad Othman Jerandi met on Tuesday, on the sidelines of his participation in the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held on November 29 and 30 in Dakar, with his Ethiopian counterpart Demeke Mekonnen.

The two ministers affirmed the common will to raise the solid bilateral relations to a higher level.

The Ethiopian Foreign Minister said that the internal crisis in his country is heading towards de-escalation, adding that the parties to the conflict are currently negotiating to reach lasting agreements.

Mr.Jerandi stressed that Tunisia, a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, is working to reach a consensual solution between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia regarding the sharing of the waters of the Great Nile.

The Ethiopian minister stressed that his country has full confidence in the positions of Tunisia, which represents a friendly and brotherly country for all the countries of the Nile basin. Tunisia's position on the Nile Basin crisis stems from a will to consolidate peace and security among all countries of the African continent.
