Foreign Minister Noureddine Erray meets with Italian Ambassador in Tunis

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Noureddine Erray, met Tuesday 10/03/2020 in Tunis with Italian ambassador in Tunis, Lorenzo Fanara.

The meeting focused on the decisions and preventive measures taken by the governments of the two countries to fight against the proliferation of Covid-19, with emphasis on the importance of intensifying coordination and cooperation between the Tunisian and Italian authorities within the framework of privileged cooperation relations.

The minister expressed Tunisia's solidarity with the friendly Italian people after the spread of the Coronavirus and its confidence in the Italian government's ability to deal with this epidemic, a statement of the department reads.

For his part, the Italian ambassador indicated that his country's authorities understand the latest decisions taken by Tunisia to protect its citizens and tourists against this virus, stressing his country's readiness to cooperate with the Tunisian authorities in this field.

"Italy welcomes the solid relations of friendship and cooperation with Tunisia," he said, underlining his country's commitment to continue supporting Tunisia's efforts to meet economic and security challenges.

The meeting was also an opportunity to review the various aspects of cooperation between the two countries, both at bilateral level and within the framework of the European Union.

Upcoming bilateral events, including the visit of the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs to Tunisia, as well as regional and international issues of common interest were also on the agenda of the meeting.
