The FM was taking part in the 8th Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) held on November 29-30 in Dakar.

Both FMs commended the close coordination between Tunisia, Nigeria and Keya as African non-permanent members of the UN Security Council, as well as the serious work accomplished during their terms.

They further reiterated their countries' commitment to pursue consultations on all items in the UN Security Council's agenda, notably those of concern to African and Arab countries, as well as all right issues embodying common principles based on the UN and African Union (AU)'s charters.

Mr.Jerandi and Mr.Massaoudou also discussed the situation in Africa, pointing to the need to continue supporting Libya in its political process.

They also highlighted the importance of coordination about the different challenges facing the region, notably the fight against the coronavirus pandemic and its fallout, fight against the terrorism threatening the Sahel and Sahara regions and their close neighbours, as well as its repercussion on peace and security in Africa.

The need to prioritise the development issue was also emphasised.

Furthermore, both FMs also reviewed topics related to the Oran High-Level Meeting on Peace and Safety in Africa and the major role played by Tunisia, Niger and Kenya in these issues, pointing to the need for the AU to continue consultations and coordination with these three countries on better ways to ensure stability in the Continent.
