Tunisia-Sweden: Common will to promote cooperation

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Othman Jerandi, received, Tuesday in Tunis, Swedish ambassador in Tunis, Anna Block Mazoyer.

On this occasion, the Minister expressed Tunisia's readiness to strengthen bilateral and multilateral cooperation with Sweden and to translate the common will of the two countries into concrete projects that serve the interests of both countries.

Jerandi also commended Sweden's support to Tunisia to meet current challenges, citing in particular the Coronavirus pandemic.

"Tunisia is determined to strengthen cooperation with various friendly countries to address security, economic and social challenges," he promised, underscoring the new government's willingness to move forward in implementing national priorities with a view to restoring the pace of economic growth and investor confidence.

For her part, the Swedish diplomat expressed her country's determination to continue working alongside the Tunisian government to boost bilateral cooperation in all areas in the common interests of both countries.

"Sweden is also determined to consecrate Tunisia's success in various fields, including political, security and development," she said, welcoming the gains made by Tunisia in the democratic process and the field of rights and freedoms.

The ambassador also expressed the Swedish government will to intensify the exchange of visits between senior officials of the two countries, recalling the forthcoming visit to Tunisia of the Crown Princess of Sweden Victoria.

The meeting was also an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.

In this context, the Ambassador extended an invitation to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to participate in an international working group on the consecration of the principles of democracy around the world.
