UK's ambassador in Tunis affirms his country's willingness to further foster bilateral cooperation relations

Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs M.Mohamed Ali Nafti received on Wednesday United Kingdom's ambassador in Tunis Edward Oakden.

The meeting focused on the upcoming bilateral events, notably the first session of the Tunisian-British Partnership Council, with emphasis on the need to strive for its success.

This event will give a fresh boost to the Tunisian-British relations,

Nafti affirmed on the occasion, the Tunisian authorities' willingness to step up bilateral cooperation, particularly in regional development, education and teaching fields.

He also stressed the need to continue to support the Second Chance School project, which is crucial to reduce the school dropout rate.

For his part, the ambassador underlined his country's willingness to further foster bilateral cooperation relations, particularly after its withdrawal from the European Union and under the terms of the Tunisian-British partnership agreement (effective from January 1, 2021).

"The UK will continue to support Tunisia in its democratic transition process by developing the security sector and supporting the economic and education sectors in the country," he said.

The British diplomat also expressed his country's willingness to support Tunisia in achieving its sustainable development and climate change objectives.
