Foreign Affairs Minister Noureddine Erray meets with EU ambassador in Tunis

Foreign Affairs Minister Noureddine Erray had a meeting, Tuesday in Tunis, with European Union ambassador in Tunis Patrice Bergamini

Erray commended the EU's continued support to Tunisia’s democratic process. He stressed the need to strengthen financial cooperation between Tunisia and its European partner as Tunisia is facing major economic and social challenges.

The Minister stressed the need to further review the strategic priorities of Tunisia-EU partnership so as to boost the Tunisian economy, consolidate its competitive capacity and increase Tunisia's exports to European markets.

This should be accomplished as part of a participatory approach while taking into account the vital interests of both parties, Erray was quoted as saying by a statement of the Foreign Ministry.

Bergamini voiced the EU's determination to bring additional support to Tunisia in its efforts to achieve the expected economic transition and help introduce the set of reforms announced by the Tunisian government.

The ambassador also expressed the EU’s readiness to discuss with the Tunisian authorities the EU partnership priorities for the years to come, particularly in the social, economic and financial development fields as well as in transport, migration, security and the fight against terrorism.

The meeting made it possible to exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest, including the situation in Libya and prevention against the coronavirus.
