M.Jerandi receives new German ambassador in Tunis

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Tunisians Abroad M.Othman Jerandi, on Friday20/11/2020, held talks with new German Ambassador in Tunis Peter Prüge on strengthening cooperation and coordination with Germany.

Germany is sponsoring the Berlin Process on Libya, in the light of the recommendations resulting from the Inter-Libyan Dialogue Forum held recently in Tunis.

The Minister commended the level of bilateral cooperation achieved over the last decade and the continued German support for the democratic transition in Tunisia.

He affirmed the need to continue the dialogue between the two parties so as to strengthen the ties of friendship and economic and political cooperation.

The German diplomat stressed the importance of coordination in dealing with the issue of irregular migration towards Europe, through a global approach that accounts for all the aspects of this phenomenon.

The German ambassador affirmed the readiness of his country, which currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, to support relations between Tunisia and the Union.

Peter Prüge also discussed with Secretary of State for Migration and Tunisians Abroad Mohamed Ali Nafti ways to combat irregular migration and to invest more in solidarity development projects.

The Secretary of State emphasised the importance of bilateral cooperation in the cultural, educational and scientific fields.
